Self-Assessment Guide

Use RaeNotes to assess your own coaching sessions: detect ICF competencies in your transcript, add notes and markers, and export a pre-filled assessment form for your records or for submission to a mentor or credentialing body.

What is self-assessment?

Self-assessment lets you review your coaching session against a competency model (e.g., ICF Core Competencies or ACC/MCC Minimum Skills) on your own. You tag where competencies and markers appear in the transcript, add voice or text notes, and then export the result as a structured assessment.

Before you start

  • Ensure your account uses the Mentor Coaching profile so that core competencies are available.
  • Have a transcribed coaching session in RaeNotes (upload a recording and use AI or human transcription, or upload your own transcript).
  • Choose the competency model you want to use (e.g., ICF Core Competencies, ACC Minimum Skills). You can set a default in your profile or select it per session.

Self-Assessment steps

1

Open your transcript

Open the document and go to the Transcript tab.

2

Tag competencies and markers

Select text in the transcript that demonstrates a competency or marker, click the Plus icon, choose the outcome category and markers, and add comments if needed. All tagged outcomes are saved to the Outcomes tab.

See Tag competencies and markers for detailed steps.

3

Add notes

Use voice memos or text notes on specific competencies to capture your reflection. These are stored with the document and appear in the assessment view.

4

Review in the Outcomes and Scores tabs

Check that your tags and notes are complete and correctly linked to the competency model.

Tip. For a quicker first pass, you can use AI Assessment to have RaeNotes suggest ICF markers, then refine and add your own tags and notes.
